Malocclusion is a condition that results in a misalignment between the teeth and the two dental arches when they approach each other when the jaw closes. Malocclusion can be divided into three types - class 1 is netrocclussion, class 2 is distocclussion and class 3 is mesiocclusion. Class 1 netrocclussion is a condition where the molar relationship of the occlusion is normal but the other teeth have problems like spacing, crowding and under eruption. Class 2 distocclussion is a condition where the mesiobuccal cusp of the upper first molar is anterior with the mesiobuccal groove of the lower first molar. Class 3 mesiocclusion is a condition where the upper molars are placed posteriorly to it and not in the mesiobuccal groove. Some common causes of malocclusion are extra teeth, impacted teeth, lost teeth and abnormally shaped teeth. It can be treated with the help of orthodontics which includes tooth extraction, dental braces and clear aligners. This book provides comprehensive insights into the field of malocclusion. It presents researches and studies performed by experts across the globe. This book is a resource guide for experts as well as students.
