The pancreas is an endocrine and exocrine gland that is responsible for the secretion of insulin, glucagon, pancreatic juice, somatostatin and pancreatic polypeptide. It regulates blood sugar levels and breaks down proteins, carbohydrates and fats entering the duodenum from the stomach.
